      We have an opportunity to be a Senior Production and Material control planner in Columbia, Maryland. In this role, the successful candidate will coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments according to the production schedule. Duties include generating, reviewing, and distributing production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine the progress of work and completion dates; pricing and estimating costs for proposal efforts; earned value inputs for all assigned programs; and compiling reports on the progress of work, forecasting and maintaining required inventory levels, costs, and devising solutions to production problems. With little assistance from others, devise solutions for variances to the production schedule and present them to management. You will coordinate and lead other lower-classified planners during project production and material close-out phases. Demonstrate the highest proficiency levels in all planning functions and possess sufficient knowledge of and familiarity with Planning, cost movements, and material control procedures to assist the Planning Supervisor in training and coaching lower classified planners on best practices.

      Working Procedure:

      • Examples of information gathered include Instructions, drawings, specifications, schedules, invoices, or flow charts.
      • Information will need to be gathered from a variety of departments, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Accounting, Programs, Marketing, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Contracts, and communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates — Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
      • Assist the department manager in preparing and implementing department policies and procedures. Provide direction and coach lower classified personnel.
      • Conducted or attended staff, Planning, production, and program meetings and relayed updated relevant information to the appropriate parties.
      • Directs and coordinates activities of work engaged in the fabrication, assembly, and testing of material
      • Interacting With Computers — Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.
      • Use computers to enter, access, or retrieve data. Including but not limited to email, MS Office, ERP systems
      • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
      • Forecast the volume and timing of resources required to meet firm and anticipated customer orders. Such forecasts include, but are not limited to, workforce (direct and indirect) capacities, volume of input/output, data, documents, etc.
      • Prepare and present to management plans and procedures ready for implementation that will comply with contractual requirements while minimizing risks, cost, and inventory investment.
      • Determine time-phased requirements based on the product structure, build sequence, and lead time for firm and anticipated orders.
      • Set up review points for all assignments to keep abreast of job progress and to perform timely and efficient expediting functions.
      • Prioritize and expedite materials, documents, information, and instructions to support schedule requirements.
      • Monitor costs spent, report regular costs, and schedule status
      • Identify, troubleshoot, and track earned value status on assigned programs
      • Prepare and conduct technical presentations for customers and other agencies on the application and use of systems, techniques, and procedures, planned or applied, in the field of production and materials control involving current or future business
      • Review proposals and contracts to determine schedule-related data requirements. Develop methods and procedures to satisfy these requirements.
      • Perform follow-up, check the status of, and expedite, where necessary, any information needed to complete tasks assigned.
      • Determine ledger and work-in-progress inventory requirements by applying good inventory planning and management principles.
      • Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings — Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems.
      • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers or other functional groups in solving work problems and issues.
      • Provide recommendations for decision-making and problem-solving in areas involving production and materials control to the management of functional departments and program organizations.

      Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

      Experience Requirement: Five years as a Production & Material Control Planner or equivalent. Minimum of seven years experience in manufacturing; please note this is an onsite position in Columbia, Maryland.
